Marc's Calling For The Troops!!!

Over on Facebook the past few days, Marc has been saying he's having a bad time. He has been putting these as his status:

Marc is asking/begging for folks to buy MANHUNTER #35 (and/or MH tpbs) en masse this week! help!

Marc Andreyko beseeches the MANHUNTER troops to start rallying again--please?!

Appearently Manhunter is on chopping block yet again. So, it's time for us to bring this book back... buy more copies, buy the trades, pimp this book out like all of us fans have before and can do again!!!

Manhunter sold roughly 1040 less issues in August than in July and stayed in the same sales position.

We need to get the word out on this book again. Since DC doesn't seem to want to advertise the book, we, as fans, must do it. Hopefully when the sales come out for September, the book hasn't lost more sales.

Manhunter's Artist That Could've Been

With the solicitation of November's Manhunter we see Matthew Clark's cover. Back in December (2007), Matthew said this in his Myspace Blog:

Ok i just go toff the phone with DC and excepted there offer. More on what the book in a future post.

Alas I had to pass on certain projects. Back in May when i was on the second issue of Outsiders and had been given the call about the creative team change, i was asked about what I'd like to do next. Still wanting to work with Joan I mentioned wanting to work off of a plot, instead of full script. I need to flex different muscles artistically speaking. I then told her I wanted to draw MANHUNTER. I like the book and thought I'd be a descent artist for the book. I had met Marc at a show and we got along. In SDCC Marc, Joan and myself had a lunch and talked about it.

I wrapped up Outsiders then waited, I drew a cover of MANHUNTER to show Joan and DC how i would approach the book. I took on a issue of The Question and during my contract negotations with DC I finally had to pass on MANHUNTER. It wasn't ready. I look forward to reading it when it does come out.....a little bit sad as i wanted to draw Kate and company. Maybe nexttime. I needed to start my next project ( JLA mini's now on hold) Wouldn't be ready til the beginning of 08, Although Nachie Castro gave me a 17 page story for Tangent which I'm wrapping up over the holidays. Then the call from Dan D.

I read the script, and said Yes.

So with out further adieu the MANHUNTER that almost was.

I can only imagine what Matthew could have brought to Manhunter, as he is a very talented artist.

Manhunter Returns Next Week!!! - 5/30/08

Manhunter will be back on the shelves next Wednesday (June 4th) and Newsarama has a 6 page preview.

Manhunter returns in June with issue #31 and a new art team!!
